AVP’s Internship Guidelines

The Allied Video Production (AVP) internship program is intended to provide students with the opportunity to observe and to participate in the daily activities of a video and event production company. We partner with interns to develop a learning experience that is engaging & beneficial, and also aligns with their skills and interest. All internships are unpaid.

Duties might include:

  • Working alongside several team members as they take video & event projects from initial client contact to delivery of a final product.
  • Assisting during pre-production & planning of video & events.
  • Assisting as crew on video shoots and events.
  • Assisting in the post production of video and event projects.
  • During downtime, interns will participate in select online learning programs.

Requirements

The intern must be currently enrolled in a college-level academic course or program. Documentation that the student is receiving academic credit for the internship must be provided. Interns must abide by AVP’s current employee handbook. Interns are also required to have a valid driver’s license.

Time Commitment

The current internship term begins in June and ends in August. The intern must be available for a minimum of 20 hours per week to participate in the internship program. However, needs may vary by student, and AVP will work with participants to set schedules.

Each intern is required to keep a daily record of hours worked via an intern timesheet. Coverage under AVP’s insurance policy is contingent upon the daily completion of a time sheet.

Policies

No applicant or intern will be discriminated against because of race, color, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, age, sex or any other basis which is prohibited by applicable Federal, State or City law.

All internships are unpaid positions. In order to assure compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act:

  • The internship will be similar to the training which would be given at an educational institution.
  • An intern may compete for employment openings at AVP. However, an intern will not be automatically entitled to employment with AVP upon completion of the internship.

Specific starting and ending dates will be specified in advance for each internship. AVP reserves the right to terminate any internship at any time for any cause.

Each intern must sign and submit an AVP Internship Application, which states that the intern understands the guidelines of the AVP Internship Program and agrees to abide by them.

Selection

Prospective interns should direct their applications via email or standard US mail. The applicant will be contacted for an interview if the applicant is eligible and if an intern position is available. New applications will need to be submitted for future internship terms.

AVP typically selects 1 intern per summer term, though there can be exceptions. The selections are based on ever changing organizational needs, resources available, supervisors available and department priorities. Application packets that are complete will be shared with AVP management shortly after the submission deadline. AVP management will then determine who they would like to contact about a placement. This process can be lengthy and you may not be contacted unless you are being offered an interview.

Required Application Materials

Generally, AVP internship terms begin in June and end in August. Applications must arrive by May 1st. More internship terms might open at a future time.

Incomplete application packets will not be considered.
